Build and roll a Roll Table
Add weighted outcomes and references, preview a private result, or roll directly from Chat.
A Roll Table chooses one outcome from a weighted list. A weight of 3 is three times as likely as a weight of 1; repeated text is allowed because every row has its own identity.
#Build the table
Open Roll Tables
Open View → Roll Tables, choose Table, and give the document a name. Names are matched without regard to capitalization when you roll from Chat.
Add weighted outcomes
Enter the outcome text and a positive whole-number weight. Add as many rows as the table needs. The percentage bar updates from the sum of the current weights.
Attach related records
Use the @ button on a row to choose up to eight readable documents. A posted result shows live names for references the reader can still open; inaccessible references are not revealed.
#Preview, then decide whether to post
Choose Roll in the table card. The server chooses the weighted result and shows it privately in your Roll Tables panel. Nothing is added to Chat yet.
Choose Post to chat to publish that exact preview. Post cannot replace the result with a client-selected row, and it checks that you may still read the table. A preview expires after ten minutes; the server keeps at most the latest 20 previews for each person.
#Roll immediately from Chat
Enter /table <name> to roll and post in one step. A full name wins over prefix matches. A unique
prefix works too, while an unknown or ambiguous name is refused without adding a Chat entry.
The result card names the table, outcome, weighted pick, and readable live references. Delivery is limited to current world members who may read the Roll Table. It is a public Chat entry only when everyone at the table may read it.
Panel and Chat use the same roll path
Both controls ask the server to validate the current table and choose the result. The difference
is timing: the panel keeps a private preview, while /table posts immediately.
#When a roll is refused
- An empty table has nothing to choose.
- A row with invalid weight makes the table invalid until corrected.
- A hidden table behaves like an unknown table for somebody who cannot read it.
- A preview cannot be posted after it expires or after table access is removed.
No refusal creates partial Chat state. Correct the table or permission, then roll again.
